Celebrating OMEGA’s legacy in space exploration, this Speedmaster “Grey Side of the Moon” features a 44.25 mm grey ceramic case, polished and plasma-treated. The bezel is also made of grey ceramic, with a tachymeter scale laser-engraved and filled with white Super-LumiNova.
Beneath the sapphire crystal, OMEGA’s connection to the moon is showcased through a specially decorated movement. The mainplate and bridges are laser-engraved to replicate the lunar surface. The near side of the moon is visible on the grey anodized aluminum dial, while the far side can be seen through the caseback.
The design includes a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The Moonwatch-style hands and beveled hour markers are grey-coated and filled with white Super-LumiNova (emitting a green glow).
The specially decorated movement is the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3869. Engravings on the caseback include the phrase “THE MOON IS ESSENTIALLY GREY,” attributed to Jim Lovell during the Apollo 8 mission.
The watch is presented on a grey nylon fabric strap with a black rubber lining, a ceramic foldover clasp, and a titanium spring frame coated in ceramic.
